Australian Links At Upcoming London Goffs Sale
On the eve of the commencement of this year's famed Royal Ascot carnival, Goffs will hold their London sale on the grounds of Kensington Palace, with a select catalogue of 22 racehorses and mares. With quite a few having an Australian connection through either their sire or pedigree, any Australian trainers over for the Ascot meeting are sure to be in attendance. Five of the catalogued horses in training are by Australian-based sires; Rosemont Stud's Starspangledbanner as well as Darley's Epaulette and Telemon Thoroughbred's Sidestep, sire of this year's Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Kiamichi. With many of the racehorses carrying entries to stakes races during the upcoming Royal Ascot meeting, it is an added incentive for buyers aiming to secure race ready stock. Past or present shuttle stallions to Australia, the likes of American Pharoah, Cable Bay, Dream Ahead, Poet's Voice, Dubawi and New Approach are all represented, but an interesting offering is one of the three mares: Lot 15, Simsimah, the Poet's Voice half-sister to Gr1 Investec Derby runner up Madhmoon, being sold with a cover to Breeders' Cup Mile winner Expert Eye and with a filly foal at foot by Aquis Farm's Divine Prophet, whose first crop Australian weanlings have sold up to $205,000 at the recent Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
