Class Colt Ready To Perform

Friday, 24th August 2018

Trainer Chris Waller is bullish about the spring prospects of smart colt Performer (Exceed and Excel-Gavroche, by Snippets) who opens his campaign in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday. Performer, a one-time favourite for the Golden Slipper, failed to scale the heights expected of him in the autumn, but Waller says he has done nothing but please him since returning from a break. "I think, give him a chance to switch off and settle and he will finish off well. If he doesn't win he'll be the one to follow out of the race for next start," Waller told racingnsw.com.au. "He's come back really well, he's a good horse as we all know." Waller added: "The hype has gone off him because he lost the rider one day and was down the track in the Golden Slipper when he drew the outside barrier. I love this horse's attitude." Waller said Performer, like many of his peers, was being aimed at the $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 22 September.
