Ace Colt Targeting Rose

Wednesday, 22nd August 2018

Trainer Kris Lees believes that unbeaten colt Graff (Star Witness-Dinkum Diamond, by Keep the Faith) can develop into a genuine Group 1 contender in the spring. A winner of his only two starts as a juvenile, Graff races in the grey and red diagonal stripes silks of owner Alan Bell, who has previously raced the likes of Grand Armee, Deep Field, Primacy and former champion sprinter, Schillaci. Graff will resume in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday as the first step towards running in the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 22 September. "I'm very pleased with him. He only had a short break off his two-year-old season. The horse seems in really good order. He trialled well and I'm looking forward to Saturday. I expect him to race well," Lees told Sky Sports Radio. "He has matured a bit and he's a really nice style of horse, like a lot of Alan Bell's horses are." Lees added: "At this stage the Golden Rose is the target but like all these three-year-olds they have to show they are good enough."
