Baker Has Faith in Talented Colt

Thursday, 15th February 2018

Trainer Bjorn Baker has not lost faith in talented 3YO Addictive Nature and will run him in weight-for-age company inSaturday's Gr2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick. Addictive Nature (Savabeel-Generous Nature, by Carnegie) was a solid third behind Trapeze Artist when resuming in the Gr2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill twelve days ago, and Bjorn is expecting a fitter version of the colt to prove highly competitive in his upcoming assignment. However, the Apollo has not been kind to 3YOs with the last of that age group to win the race being Ha Ha back in 2002. "We threw him in the deep end and if he can run in the money again we will be thrilled," Baker told racingnsw.com.au. "We are yet to see the best of him and hopefully that will be Saturday. I'm very confident he is better on top of the ground. As long as he runs a good race we are on target and we have options going forward." Addictive Nature's primary autumn target is the Gr1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Royal Randwick in Sydney on 10 March.
