Hobartville First-Up For Luvaluva
Trainer John Sargent says the best is yet to come with talented filly Luvaluva. The New Zealand-bred showed she was among the better 3YO staying fillies in the country when winning the Gr2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and placing fourth in the Gr1 VRC Oaks in the spring. "She probably spelled better than any three-year-old filly I've ever had and from the moment she came in this prep, she's looking more like a four-year-old," Sargent told racenet. "There's no doubt she's come back a better horse. She'll have the four runs this autumn and then I think you'll see something again in the spring. A lot of the three-year-old fillies don't train on at four but I think this one will." He added: "She is a lot more mature, laid back and sharper than most of the good ones I've had. I expect her to go on with it." Luvaluva (Mastercraftsman-Wansesingyee, by Galileo), whose primary autumn target is the Gr1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on 14 April, will kick off her campaign against the boys in the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on 24 February.
