At Pukekura in New Zealand, 4-time Gr1-winning NZ Windsor Park shuttler & former European Champion 2YO Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) added a black-type success when 3YO New Zealand-bred filly Treasure (Mastercraftsman-Penny Whistle, by O'Reilly) showed a terrific turn of foot to power clear of her rivals late for an easy win in the $55,000 Listed Oaks Prelude (1800m) for 3YO fillies, defeating Caricature & Luxe. A $105,000 purchase at the 2016 NZB Select Yearling Sale from the draft of Hallmark Stud, Treasure improved her record to 1 win and 1 placing from 4 starts for NZ$35,81 in earnings. Trainer Tony Pike was full of praise for Treasure who is being aimed at the Gr1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) at Trentham on 17 March. "I think she's one of the best staying fillies that I've trained," the Cambridge trainer told NZ Racing Desk. "We've always had a massive opinion of her. She's just taken a few runs to work things out and the blinkers have helped her." Treasure is out of the O'Reilly mare Penny Whistle, a half-sister to the dam of Pike's Gr1 Auckland Cup (3200m) winner Chenille.
