At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a Group race success when 2YO Australian-bred filly Fiesta (I Am Invincible-Now Now, by Danehill Dancer) overcame trouble in running for a strong finishing win in the $150,000 Gr3 Widden Stakes (1100m) for 3YO fillies, defeating Adamina & River Bird. Interestingly, Fiesta ran the 1100 metres half a second quicker than her stable-mate Performer in the previous race. Purchased by Star Thoroughbreds in partnership with Chris Waller Racing for $150,000 at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Fiesta got off the mark to improve her record to 1 win and 2 placings (including the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes) from 3 starts for $117,150 in earnings. Trainer Chris Waller confirmed that Fiesta would now head to the Gr2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on 3 March as a final lead-up to the $3.5 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on 24 March.
