English Back In Work

Friday, 20th January 2017

Gr1-winning mare English (Encosta de Lago-Court, by Anabaa) has returned to the Tulloch Lodge stable of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott to begin her preparations for the autumn, reports racingnsw.com.au. A winner of the Gr1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) last April, connections will be hoping English can return to her autumn best after a disappointing spring carnival in which her best performance yielded a 4th in the Gr2 Premiere Stakes in Sydney. "It's early days for her. She is doing a bit of light pace work but we're delighted with the way she has returned. She's strengthened up and put on good condition," Bott explained. "She didn't quite come up in the spring and unfortunately we didn't quite get the results but the autumn last campaign was her carnival and hopefully that can be the same again this year." English, who hails from the same female line as dual Gr1-winning sire Grand Lodge, has won 4 of her 12 starts hitherto for over $1.7 million in earnings.
