Australian Sires Premiership Update

Friday, 20th January 2017

After nearly twenty five weeks of the 2016-17 racing season, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible has claimed the top spot on the national sires leader board courtesy of his daughter Houtzen's brilliant victory in last weekend's Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast. This has relegated Darley's deceased shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry to second, while Arrowfield Stud's multiple stakes-winning stallion Snitzel rounds out the top three. It is also worth noting that there are now three sons of Arrowfield's multiple champion sire Redoute's Choice in the top ten, a remarkable feat when one thinks of it for a stallion that is still in service. According to arion.co.nz, the top 10 ranked stallions in Australia (as of 19 Jan) are:

1. I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) - $6,580,371

2. Street Cry (Machiavellian) - $6,353,240

3. Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) - $6,208,471

4. Fastnet Rock (Danehill) - $5,652,581

5. Not a Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) - $5,469,269

6. Monsun (Königsstuhl) - $4,509,725

7. Stratum (Redoute's Choice) - $4,283,027

8. High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells) - $4,231,113

9. Sebring (More Than Ready) - $4,002,920

10. More Than Ready (Southern Halo) - $3,904,464
