Turn Me Loose Wins Trial

Wednesday, 11th January 2017

Triple Gr1 winner Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj-Indomitable, by Danehill) warmed up for another Melbourne campaign with a successful, and much-needed, outing at yesterday's Cambridge trials, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained 5YO won his open 935m heat in the hands of Matt Cameron defeating dual Gr1 winner Xtravagant with stable-mate Honey Rider in third. "He's still a bit fat and he will take a lot of improvement from that," Forsman said. "He'll be going straight over to Australia." Turn Me Loose is likely to resume in the Gr2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley on 27 January. He will then step out in the Gr1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight later before mounting a defence of his title in the Gr1 Futurity Stakes on 25 February 25. Turn Me Loose was named champion sprint and champion middle distance horse at last season's New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Awards.
