Segenhoe Connection Strikes Again

Thursday, 5th January 2017

On a day when Segenhoe – the horse – won at big odds in Wyong's second race yesterday, and Segenhoe featured as the vendors in the Play For Time story (see below), it was perhaps inevitable that there would be a third strand for the exceptional Hunter Valley nursery. It transpired in Race 4 at Wyong where 3YO gelding California Fortune was sent off at a prohibitive odds-on quote having placed on debut at Warwick Farm in December. Winning as he liked by nearly 4-lengths, California Fortune is bred in the purple, being by former Champion Australian Sire Fastnet Rock out of the dual Gr1-placed multiple Gr1 winner Mimi Lebrock, whose sire Show A Heart also boasts the dam of Gr1 heroine Miss Cover Girl, and the dam of Winning Rupert among his daughters. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, California Fortune was a $450,000 yearling consigned by Segenhoe Stud at the 2015 Inglis Easter Sale where he was knocked down to Asian Bloodstock Services.
