War Affair On Way Back

Tuesday, 28th June 2016

Former Singapore Horse of the Year War Affair is making quiet progress toward a return to racing the spring, reports NZ Racing Desk. The injury-troubled New Zealand-bred son of the late O'Reilly, who hasn't raced for nearly a year, is now with expatriate Kiwi trainer Bruce Marsh. "That break has done him a world of good," said Marsh. "We brought him back in work about six weeks ago, and started off with mostly slow uphill work. It's only recently that he's come back on the main training tracks." He added: "He's started doing pace work and is coming along nicely. He's loving it! I haven't quite looked through the programme, but on the way he is progressing, I would say he would be back in September." War Affair has not raced since finishing second to Quechua in the Gr1 Singapore Derby (2000m) in July last year after succumbing to a fetlock suspensory injury.
