My Dream Boat Wins Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes
On day two of the Royal Ascot carnival in England, 4YO Irish bred entire My Dream Boat (Lord Shanakill-Betty Burke, by Choisir) caused one of the biggest upsets of the royal meeting thus far when scoring by a neck for trainer Clive Cox in the Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes (10 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 4YO mare Found (Galileo-Red Evie, by Intikhab) & 5YO gelding Western Hymn (High Chaparral-Blue Rhapsody, by Cape Cross). My Dream Boat, who was the outsider of the field at 16-1, advanced his record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Gordon Richards Stakes) and 3 placings from 14 starts for £559,576 earnings. "He looked special when he won the Gordon Richards (at Sandown), but when we took him to France he was tracked back in the field and things didn't go quite right," trainer Clive Cox told Sky Sports. "He got into a nice rhythm and I'm very proud of him." The big talking point of the race was the failure of odds on favourite A Shin Hikari who finished last. "It was his first time round a bend this sharp and it was a surprise to him," said Hirotsugu Hirai, spokesman for owners Eishindo Co Ltd. "Also, the turf was very soft - like a luxurious carpet - and that didn't suit him. After the race the horse was fine, but we are upset."
