Rain Affair Retired

Wednesday, 25th May 2016

Multiple Group-winning sprinter Rain Affair (Commands-I Believe, by Octagonal) has been retired, reports Sky Racing. Trainer Daniel Bowman said the 8YO had simply lost interest in racing after finishing a distant last in last weekend's Listed Straight Six at Flemington. "Would like to officially announce the retirement of Rain Affair. Retires sound & happy horse just lost desire for racing. Been a privilege," Bowman tweeted yesterday. Rain Affair will be remembered as one of the most talented contemporary sprinters not to win at the top level. The son of Commands retires with a good horse's record of 12 wins from 40 starts and over $1.5 million prize money. Despite being unable to break through for that elusive Gr1 victory, Rain Affair's class shone through with four placings at the elite level, namely in the TJ Smith Stakes (behind Master Of Design), BTC Cup (behind Your Song), and twice in the All Aged Stakes (between star gallopers Atlantic Jewel & All Too Hard).
