Galileo Gold Bigger & Better: Palmer
Trainer Hugo Palmer has issued an ominous warning to the rivals of Galileo Gold ahead of Saturday's Irish 2,000 Guineas at The Curragh, saying the colt has thrived since his brilliant win in the English equivalent on 30 April, reports Racing Post. “Galileo Gold has been without fault since the 2,000 Guineas. His work has been exceptional, as it always is, and he looks bigger, stronger and better," said Palmer. “All the signs are he’s actually improved for his run at Newmarket. I’m very happy with him. The Curragh has been a happy hunting ground for me and I hope it will be again.” With rain forecast for The Curragh on Saturday, Palmer said he was hoping the conditions did not become too testing. “I’d hate to run him on extremes of ground, but you don’t tend to get extremely fast ground in Ireland at this time of year, and I’d be nervous about extremely soft ground. Somewhere in the middle would be nice," he said. Galileo Gold (Paco Boy-Galicuix, by Galileo) will bid to become just the ninth horse to claim the English-Irish 2,000 Guineas double on the weekend.
