Alpine Eagle Ready For Penzance Clash
Trainer Tony McEvoy says that prodigiously talented galloper Alpine Eagle (High Chaparral-Zephyria, by Zabeel) is ready to return to the races in Saturday's Gr3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville, reports AAP. The 4YO entire, who has fully recovered from a cracked pedal bone sustained last September, is set to clash with Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance, with the race serving as both horse's only run before once again being put aside for the spring carnival in Melbourne. "We've had no issues at all with it," McEvoy said. "He's got confidence in his action. He's done everything really well. He's ready for a race. He needs to go to the races." He added: "He'll just have this race and then I'll sweeten him up for a few weeks and we'll target the spring."
