Golden Horn Dam In Foal To Galileo
Fleche d'Or (Dubai Destination), the dam of last year's outstanding 3YO colt and European Horse of the Year Golden Horn, is in foal to champion sire Galileo, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. Norelands Stud's Harry McCalmont, who purchased Fleche d'Or for 62,000 guineas at the 2012 Tattersalls December Mares Sale, said: "It will be very exciting for next year and Galileo is the best stallion in the world. As she's produced one of the best horses in the past few years, it seemed a perfectly logical decision to send her to him." Owned and bred by Anthony Oppenheimer, the John Gosden-trained Golden Horn (Cape Cross) proved an exceptional performer throughout 2015 with four victories at Gr1 level, namely in the English Derby, Eclipse Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes, and Europe's most prestigious event, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He retired to Darley's Dalham Stud in November last year with a record of 7 wins from 9 starts and over £4.3 million prize money.
