Scrutinize Returns To Matamata Stable

Friday, 13th May 2016

Group-performed Kiwi 3YO Scrutinize is back in work and will be restricted to shorter trips during his next campaign, reports NZ Racing Desk. "We'll see how he comes up, but he'll probably be kept to sprints and miles – whether he stays is a question mark in our book," co-trainer Jamie Richards said. "He's been gelded so hopefully he can show his true colours now." Runner-up in the Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas in the spring, Scrutinize was spelled and gelded after he finished out of the money in the Gr2 Waikato Guineas (2000m) in February. The Te Akau Racing-owned son of Savabeel and New Zealand Oaks winner Legs has shown promise in his short career to date winning 3 of his 8 starts.
