Medaglia d'Oro Confirmed For Catkins Mating

Friday, 13th May 2016

Popular 6YO mare Catkins (Dubawi-Salix Caprea, by Catbird), who was retired from racing earlier this year, is to be mated to Darley's leading shuttler Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper). According to smh.com.au's columnist John Holloway, the Chris Waller-trained 16-time winner is currently at Coolmore Stud ahead of the 2016 breeding season. The Ingham family-owned mare, whose connections also race Japonisme (favourite for tomorrow's Gr1 BTC Cup over 1200m at Doomben), finished her career as a perennial Gr1 bridesmaid, however the grey's multiple Group victories and omnipresence in feature races endeared her to the racing public. She retired with earnings of almost $2 million.
