Imposing Lass Wins Listed Gold Coast Bracelet

Monday, 9th May 2016

At the Gold Coast in Queensland, Westbury Stud's three-time Gr1-winning shuttle stallion Makfi (Dubawi-Dhelaal, by Green Desert) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Imposing Lass (Makfi-Imposingly, by Zabeel) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Bjorn Baker in the $125,000 Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Self Esteem (Stratum-Sounds Assertive, by Zeditave) & Kebede (Redoute's Choice-Desert Fight, by Hussonet). A NZ$120,000 purchase by Paul Willets at the 2014 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Westbury Stud, Imposing Lass took her record to 4 wins and 1 placing from 5 starts for $168,275 earnings. Her primary winter target is the Gr1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on 4 June. The well-bred Imposing Lass is a half-sister to Gr3 winners Full Of Spirit (Flying Spur) and Lady Cumquat (Duke Of Marmalade) from the Zabeel mare Imposingly, a three-quarter sister to New Zealand Derby winner St Reims and Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes winner and Melbourne Cup runner-up Champagne (both by Zabeel).
