Million Dollar Australian-Bred Colt Wins Debut

Wednesday, 4th May 2016

Valuable Australian-bred 2YO colt Act Of Loyalty made a winning debut for champion trainer Mike de Kock at Vaal in South Africa overnight. Ridden by Weichong Marwing and carrying the colours of leviathan owner Marcus Jooste, Act Of Loyalty showed good speed out of the gates to settle in the leading division before kicking strongly over the final 200 metres to post a narrow but decisive head victory in the Vaal Juvenile Maiden Plate over 1200m. Purchased for R2 million as a yearling, Act Of Loyalty is by Vinery stallion More Than Ready out of the stakes-winning Perugino mare Gina Lollawitcha, a daughter of dual stakes winner and good producer Lucky Witch (Voodoo Rhythm). Lucky Witch's other progeny include Gr3 winners Lucky Diva and Spirit Of Westbury, as well as stakes winner Duke Of Westbury. This is also the family of champion Australian sprinter and influential colonial sire Century (Better Boy).
