Nancy Wins Gr3 Godolphin Crown

Monday, 2nd May 2016

At Hawkesbury in Sydney, Vinery Stud's Kentucky Derby & Preakness Stakes-winning stallion Big Brown (Boundary-Mien, by Danzig) added a Group success when his 4YO daughter Nancy (Big Brown-Shalimar Sky, by Hurricane Sky) scored by 1.3-lengths for trainers Peter & Paul Snowden in the $175,000 Gr3 Godolphin Crown (1300m) for 3YO+ f&m, over 7YO mare Two Blue (Dubleo-Blue Booty, by Personal Flag) & fellow 4YO mare Press Report (Written Tycoon-Grenada, by Dolphin Street). This was a well-deserved maiden stakes victory for Nancy who has always shown above average ability. She took her record to 4 wins and 4 placings (including the Gr3 ATC Newcastle Newmarket Handicap) from 10 starts for $232,600 earnings. Nancy, who is out of Listed Tibbie Stakes winner Shalimar Sky, was a $65,000 purchase at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Fairview Park Stud. "The race was set up for. They went pretty quick early and she has always shown a good turn of foot at the end of her races," co-trainer Peter Snowden said. Snowden said he would give some thought to aiming Nancy at the upcoming Scone racing carnival. "I made up my mind before the race that today might do her this preparation, but I will let the dust settle and think about Scone," he said.
