Monday, 2nd May 2016

At Turffontein in South Africa, Greys Inn, a Gr1-winning son of deceased Champion New Zealand Sire Zabeel, celebrated an elite success when 4YO entire Legal Eagle (Greys Inn-Young Sensation, by National Emblem) scored by 2-lengths for trainer Sean Tarry in the R4 million Gr1 Champions Challenge (2000m) for 3YO+, over fellow 4YO entire French Navy (Count Dubois-Redoubtable, by Elliodor) & Australian-bred 3YO colt Brazuca (Teofilo-Base Paradise, by Choisir). Legal Eagle confirmed his status as South Africa's best racehorse with his fourth top-flight victory. Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm and raced by leviathan owner Marcus Jooste, Legal Eagle took his record to 7 wins (including the Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes, Gr1 Queen's Plate & Gr1 South African Derby) and 3 placings from 12 starts for over R5 million earnings.
