Turn Me Loose Wins Gr1 Futurity Stakes

Monday, 29th February 2016

At Caulfield in Melbourne, Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic-Pastorale, by Nureyev) celebrated an elite Gr1 success when 4YO entire Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj-Indomitable, by Danehill) scored by 0.8-length for trainer Murray Baker in the $500,000 Gr1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), over ever-consistent fellow 4YO entire Stratum Star (Stratum-Purely Spectacular, by Pins) & 5YO mare Suavity (Thorn Park-Cha Cha, by High Chaparral). Living up to his second-up record, Turn Me Loose had to work hard to find a position before box-seating heading for home where he quickly find another gear to earn his third Gr1 feature. Bred by NZ race commentator George Simon and his wife Maryanne, Turn Me Loose was purchased by Todd Hartley for NZ$52,500 at the 2013 NZB Ready To Run Sale from the draft of Mana Park. Turn Me Loose took his record to 7 wins (including last November's Gr1 Emirates Stakes, Gr1 NZ 2000 Guineas, Gr2 Crystal Mile, Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas & Listed Seymour Cup) & 4 placings (including the Gr3 James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes) from 13 starts for $1,452,884 earnings.
