Inglis Melb Premier Day-1: $675,000 Fastnet Rock Filly
On an exceptional opening day of selling at the 2016 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, a filly by Coolmore's champion sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) set a new sale record price for a filly when selling for $675,000. Out of Hidden Energy, from the family of Kaphero and Saturday's Gr2 Guy Walter Stakes winner Solicit, the filly was consigned by Swettenham Stud, and purchased by trainer Pat Carey and Group One Bloodstock. Carey said the purchaser had bought as part of a long term plan to breed down the track. Another Fastnet Rock filly set the day's second highest price: Lot 118, out of a half-sister to Holy Roman Emperor, fetched $460,000 to the bid of South African trainer Brett Crawford, who purchased last year's $560,000 top lot at the sale. The consignor was Blue Gum Farm.
