Hot Weather Policy Enacted For NSW

With hot weather predicted for areas of NSW over the coming days, the Racing NSW Hot Weather Policy has been enacted at the following meetings:

Today, 24 February - Level 1

Rosehill Gardens - Predicted Temp 35 degrees

In accordance with Level 1 of the policy, the following protocols have been put in place for today:

  • Shortened pre & post-race parades
  • Horses arriving later at the barriers
  • Additional veterinary staff rostered to officiate at the meeting

In addition, the Australian Turf Club has ensured misting sprays located in the horse tie-up stalls have been serviced and are functioning effectively along with ice cooled water sprays being available to be used to assist the recovery of horses post-race.

Thursday, 25 February - Level 2

Hawkesbury - Predicted Temp 40 degrees

Warren - Predicted Temp 41 degrees

In accordance with Level 2 of the policy, the following protocols have been put in place for tomorrow:

  • Horse arrivals on-course reduced to one hour prior to starting time of race
  • Shortened pre & post-race parades
  • Horses arriving later at the barriers
  • Additional veterinary staff rostered to officiate at the meeting

RNSW Stewards have ensured at Hawkesbury racecourse misting sprays located in the horse tie-up stalls have been serviced and are functioning effectively along with ice cooled water sprays being available to be used to assist the recovery of horses post-race.
