Sewreel Wins Listed Bob Sharrock Memorial Oaks Prelude

At Pukekura in New Zealand, Waikato Stud's Cox Plate winning stallion Savabeel (Zabeel-Savannah Success, by Success Express) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Sewreel (Savabeel-Haberdashery, by Pins) scored by 1.25-lengths for trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman in the NZ$50,000 Listed Bob Sharrock Memorial Oaks Prelude (1800m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Maritimo (Pins-Miracle Miss, by O'Reilly) & All In Vogue (Pins-Tall Poppy, by Kaapstad). This was the first stakes victory for the talented Sewreel who took her record to  3 wins and 1 placing from 6 starts for NZ$50,875 earnings. Sewreel, who was purchased by Murray Baker Racing for NZ$42,000 at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale from the draft of Waikato Stud, is out of a half-sister to Gr1 Queensland Derby winner Lachlan River and hails from the female family of Australian Oaks winner My Brilliant Star and Gr1 Toorak Handicap winner Shot Of Thunder.
