WFA Classic Next For Volkstok'n'barrell

Wednesday, 17th February 2016

Top Kiwi galloper Volkstok'n'barrell will step up to a mile at his next start in the Gr1 WFA Classic at Otaki in two weeks, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Rosehill Guineas winner resumed with a pleasing sixth in last Saturday's Gr1 Waikato Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa when finding the line well behind star colt Xtravagant. "We were very pleased with his run on Saturday and Leith (Innes) said he just came to the end of it late," said Chris Gibbs, who trains the son of Tavistock in partnership with Donna Logan. "He's down about 12 kilos now, which is good, because he was a little bit chubby and he has come through the run well." With Leith Innes likely to pilot Kawi in the Otaki Group One, Vinnie Colgan has secured the ride on Volkstok'n'barrell.
