Sibling To QLD Derby Winner Set For Debut

Wednesday, 17th February 2016

Kunming, a two-year-old half-brother to last year's Gr1 Queensland Derby winner Magicool, is set to make his debut in a 1200m maiden at Canterbury today. Prepared by Rosehill trainer Gary Moore, Kunming is by More Than Ready out of the Irish-bred Galileo mare Perfect Truth and was purchased by Moore for $220,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Element Hill. Kunming will step out in the red and gold epaulette silks of his breeder Hutchins Thoroughbreds who race the colt in a syndicate that also includes prominent racing identity and  Black Caviar's part-owner Neil Werrett. Despite his impressive blood credentials, Kunming will have to be smart to kick his career off with a win with several rivals boasting equally impressive pages including Star Of Monsoon - from the Best In Show family of Redoute's Choice - Omei Sword - a half-brother to Gr1 Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights - and Kiss And Make Up, a daughter of dual Gr1-winning filly Fashions Afield.
