Samara Dancer Wins Gr2 Blue Diamond Prelude Fillies

Monday, 15th February 2016

At Caulfield in Melbourne, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed stallion Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a Group success when 2YO filly Samara Dancer (Hinchinbrook-Ennerdale, by Singspiel) scored by 1-length for trainer Phillip Stokes in the $200,000 Gr2 Blue Diamond Prelude Fillies (1100m) for 2YO fillies, over fellow fillies Concealer (Nicconi-Beauty Kit, by Tale of the Cat) & Miss Nymeria (Stryker-Typhoon Tilly, by Ferocity). This was the first stakes victory for Samara Dancer who took her record to 2 wins from 2 starts for $146,000 earnings. Samara Dancer, who is a half-sister to Gr3 winner Eclair Big Bang, was a NZ$130,000 purchase by Phillip Stokes Racing at the 2015 NZB National Yearling Sale from the draft of Phonenix Park. Samara Dancer is now an $8 chance for the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield in two weeks time. "She's pretty good - she's shown us plenty at home but she had to measure up to this lot and she's definitely done that," trainer and part-owner Phillip Stokes told Racing.com. "She'd done everything right at home - she galloped with a horse called Hucklebuck on Tuesday and went with him so I thought that was good enough. She'll only get better."
