Suavito Ready For Orr

Friday, 12th February 2016

High class mare Suavito (Thorn Park-Queen Cha Cha, by High Chaparral) will make her long awaited return to racing in tomorrow's Gr1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield. Last year's Gr1 Futurity Stakes winner missed the entire spring carnival in order to have surgery to remove a bone chip from her knee, but trainer Nigel Blackiston believes the extended break may prove to be a blessing. "It's been a long time coming. We've been patient, she's had ten months off but she's in great order," Blackiston told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "There's some very good horses in this race. If she can be thereabouts and be competitive I'll go home happy." He added: "I'd have to say she's improved. Her trackwork's been super, her trials have been very, very good...she's in great order and the most important thing is whatever she does on Saturday she will improve." After Saturday, Suavito is expected to return to Caulfield in two weeks time to defend her Futurity Stakes title before heading north to Sydney for races such as the Gr1 Doncaster Mile and Gr1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.
