Weather Key To Star Colt

Thursday, 4th February 2016

The Te Akau Racing team will be on weather watch leading up to the Gr1 meeting at Te Rapa on Saturday week, reports NZ Racing Desk. They are desperate for a good surface for their star colt Xtravagant (Pentire-Axiom, by Zabeel), who will run in the Gr1 NRM Sprint ahead of a likely Australian campaign. "There looks like there could be a bit of rain around, we just don't want too much and we've got our fingers crossed for a good track," co-trainer Stephen Autridge said. The New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner was beaten into fourth last time out in the Gr1 Levin Classic on a Dead 6 track at Trentham, with connections blaming the ground for the red hot favourite's defeat.
