Stanley Sweet On Talented Filly
Victorian trainer Brent Stanley is confident that talented filly Sweet Sherry (Bel Esprit-Amoroso, by Revoque) can measure up to the top juveniles when she resumes in the Gr2 Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday week. The daughter of Bel Esprit made a favourable impression when scoring on debut in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington in October, before disappointing slightly when unplaced at her next start at Moonee Valley. However, Stanley insists Sweet Sherry has returned a much stronger horse following a break and is excited about her prospects in the upcoming 2YO autumn features. "She'll go Blue Diamond [Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes] and then the Golden Slipper [Gr1] all going well," Stanley told Racing.com. "She had a trial last Friday at Ballarat, she went quite well there, she'll go again on Tuesday at Bendigo before going to the Blue Diamond Prelude the following Saturday." He added: "She's more mature, she's come back stronger and going really good - it's exciting to see her back."
