Shorter Race Interval Trial Begins This Weekend

Thursday, 4th February 2016

Racing Victoria's trial of 30-minute gaps between races will commence with Saturday's meetings at Caulfield and Bendigo, reports Racing.com. The initiative will be tested for one week, beginning this weekend and continuing through to the Moonee Valley night meeting on Friday 12 February. "Punters can expect a shorter raceday, a more exciting raceday at the races and sitting at home watching Racing.com," Racing Victoria operations manager Paul Bloodworth said. "All the meetings through the week will start at 1:30pm, with the Bendigo meeting on Saturday starting at 1:15pm. It should be a really exciting week, and we're really looking forward to it." Bloodworth said that RV would assess the impact on wagering, industry participants and racegoers before deciding whether to make the shorter intervals permanent.
