First Declarations For Gr1 Blue Diamond
A total of 618 two-year-olds remain in contention for the 2016 Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) following the first declaration stage. The entries comprise of 612 juveniles from the original nominations, plus an additional six late entries. The Lindsay Park team of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig has the greatest representation of 2YOs with 63 youngsters nominated for the $1.5 million feature at Caulfield on 27 February. Global powerhouse Godolphin are second with 46 entries, followed by Mick Price (45), Hawkes Racing (34), Gai Waterhouse (33), and Snowden Racing (31). Australia's leading sires all have strong nominations including Snitzel (45), Fastnet Rock (33), Sebring (30) and Blue Diamond winner Sepoy (23). The number of entries is the highest since 2007 with an increase of 16% on last year.
