Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale: Average Up 20%
The Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale concluded on Sunday with major increases across the board as turnover rose by 26 per cent, the average was up by 20 per cent and the median 11 per cent higher on the 2014 sale. The strength of the two day breeding stock sale can also be measured by the almost doubling of the number of mares making €100,000 or more compared with last year. The sale topper was The Aga Khan Stud consigned Ebeyina (Lot 1368) who was purchased by Ballylinch Stud for €460,000. The stakes-placed Oasis Dream mare is a sister to two Stakes performers including the Gr2 winner Ebiyza. Ebeyina is out of a daughter of the Aga Khan's blue-blooded Irish Oaks winner Ebadiyla and was sold in foal to Kodiac. This is an outstanding family that also includes Gr1 Gold Cup winners Estimate and Enzeli, Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Edabiya, as well as Epsom Oaks and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Taghrooda. If that isn't impressive enough, all of the aforementioned mares descend from one of the most influential broodmares in history, namely Frizette, ancestress of legendary stallions Mr Prospector & Seattle Slew.
