Sprinter Ready To Rock Winterbottom

Tuesday, 17th November 2015

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig says Fast 'n' Rocking is in top order ahead of the $1 million Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in Perth on Saturday, reports Racing.com. The 5YO Fastnet Rock gelding is coming off an encouraging last-start fourth (beaten 2.3 lengths) behind Chautauqua in the Gr1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley, and Dabernig expects another forward showing this weekend. "Western Australian sprinters you've always got to respect, they're normally not easy to beat on their home turf," Dabernig told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "But a horse like Fast 'n' Rocking has done plenty of travelling over his career, so he's a horse that can travel and perform. With his racing style he gets back and runs on, so he does need luck for the race to pan out right for him." He added: "But he's in great order and you wouldn't get a horse looking any better - he's in great nick heading into Saturday." Fast 'n' Rocking is currently the $4.60 second favourite with TAB for the Winterbottom behind veteran Queensland speedster Buffering at $3.80. There are 50 horses nominated for West Australia's premier sprint.
