Vasil Not Retiring

Friday, 28th March 2014

Aquanita chairman Peter Howell has dismissed media reports suggesting Victorian trainer Tony Vasil is retiring as inaccurate, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Howell said Vasil is currently taking a leave of absence for an undetermined period while he deals with health issues. He said that every client of Vasil's had been informed of the prevailing situation. Robert Smerdon, who works under the Aquanita banner at Caulfield, will take over the horses that were in Vasil's care. "Tony is interstate at the moment. He is having treatment for his health issues," Howell said. "There is no truth that Tony is retiring, no decision has been made by anyone in regard to what will happen in the future."
