Big Brown Adds 7th Stakes-Winner
In the US over the weekend, Vinery's Kentucky Derby winning shuttler Big Brown (Boundary-Mien, by Nureyev) added another stakes-winner when 4YO entire Ground Transport (Big Brown–Extry by Broad Brush) was never headed en route to comfortable victory in the Listed Harrison Johnson Memorial (1800m) at Laurel. The victory brought up the seventh individual stakes-winner for Big Brown and a stakes-winning double for Vinery shuttlers at Laurel following More Than a Cruise (More Than Ready) in the Listed Conniver Stakes. Big Brown has now sired 5 stakes winners from his first crop, with assistant trainer Chris Davis saying Ground Transport is the consummate professional. Ground Transport was bred in Kentucky by River Bend Farm and is out of Extry, an unraced half-sister to the dam of Gr1-winning Australasian shuttler Stravinsky. Big Brown's second southern yearling crop continue to make good money at the 2014 majors. They sold to $180,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions and $155,000 at the Inglis Classic Sale.
