Moore Booked For Gentildonna

Thursday, 20th March 2014

Ryan Moore will be reunited with champion Japanese mare Gentildonna (Deep Impact-Donna Blini, by Bertolini) in next week's Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan where he will face Magician, on whom he won the Breeders' Cup Turf last year, reports racingpost.com. Both horses gave Moore memorable big-race wins in the space of 22 days in November, but with Coolmore's Joseph O'Brien likely to partner Magician and Sir Michael Stoute not having any entries in the Sheema, Gentildonna's connections have snapped up the jockey many regard as the world's finest. Gentildonna, who created history by becoming the only horse to win two Japan Cups, is the current favourite for the Sheema Classic. The star mare was second to Magician's ill-fated former stable-mate St Nicholas Abbey in the Sheema Classic last year, but has enjoyed a much better prep this time round. "I'm happy to hear that he [Moore] will ride her again. She is fresh and has trained satisfactorily," said trainer Sei Ishizaka.
