MM March Sale Day-2: Magic Albert Colt Tops Sale
The Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale concluded yesterday with 258 lots selling for an aggregate of over $5.5 million over the two day sale. The average price was $21,447, up slightly on last year's auction, while the title of leading vendor went to Glenlogan Park which sold 38 youngsters for $1,095,500. "It was very much a selective and polarising market," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. "There was very healthy competition on the better lots." A cracking colt by former star Magic Millions graduate Magic Albert fetched a sale-topping $105,000 from the draft of Kenmore Lodge late in the afternoon. From the Polish Precedent mare Livonia, the colt is a half-brother to recent Moonee Valley winner Japhils and hails from the family of Gr1 Irish Oaks winner Give Thanks, Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Favoletta and Richard Hannon's promising stakes-winning 3YO Chief Barker. The colt was purchased by the Victorian-based partnership of Dream Thoroughbreds and Bluegrass Bloodstock. David Azzopardi of Dream Thoroughbreds was delighted to be able to buy the colt and announced Anthony Freedman as the trainer for the likely type. "When we first saw him we thought was very athletic and a really good moving colt," Azzopardi said. "We weren't going home without him. Specifically we were looking for a colt that would ultimately be a classic three-year-old, a guineas type."
