Browne Wins Appeal

Wednesday, 19th March 2014

Queensland hoop Damian Browne is free to continue riding through the autumn carnival after the Racing Disciplinary Board upheld his appeal yesterday, reports dailytelegraph.com.au. Racing Queensland stewards suspended Browne for six weeks for not showing enough urgency on Kingtantes at Eagle Farm last month, suggesting the horse could have run second. The appeals panel, headed by chairman and former Supreme Court Judge Bill Carter, accepted Browne had made an error of judgment, but failed to find him "culpable or blameworthy" over the incident. The decision will be a huge relief for Browne, who can now ride multiple Gr1-winning sprinter Buffering in the TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick next month.
