Giant's Causeway & Tapit Colts Top OBS Sale
Two colts, by Giant's Causeway and Tapit, shared top billing at the OBS selected 2YOs in training sale in California on Tuesday, selling for US$1.6 million apiece, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. Stonestreet Stables secured Lot 343, a son of Giant's Causeway from the stakes-placed mare Rebridled Dreams (Unbridled's Song), from the draft of Northwest Stud, who celebrated a pin-hooking success after purchasing him for US$550,000 at Keeneland in September. The colt is a half-brother to Gr1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity winner J.B.'s Thunder (Thunder Gulch). Just a few minutes after hip 343 became the new sale's topper at US$1.6 million, Al Shaqab Racing matched that price for hip 350. Bradley Weisbord, who was recently named the US Advisor for Al Shaqab, signed the ticket. The Tapit colt was purchased in utero by Bowden Global Equine for $850,000 at Keeneland November in 2011.
