Fiorente's Dam Visits Redoute's Choice

Wednesday, 12th March 2014

Desert Bloom, the dam of Melbourne Cup and Australian Cup winner Fiorente (Monsun), was covered by champion Australian sire Redoute's Choice in France on the weekend, reports breednet.com.au. The unraced daughter of Pilsudski and Desert Beauty (by Green Desert) was mated with Redoute's Choice at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in Normandy, where the Arrowfield stallion is standing his second Northern Hemisphere season. Fiorente's breeder Ballymacoll Stud also welcomed a Redoute's Choice colt from Fleur De Cactus (Montjeu-Desert Beauty), a half-sister to Desert Bloom, on 2 January. He was the first foal born this year on the famous Irish farm owned by the Weinstock and Sobell families. Ballymacoll Stud has enjoyed long-term success with Fiorente's female family. His second dam Hellenic (Darshaan) won the Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks and went on to have a wonderful career at stud, producing five Group winners, including three at Gr1 level - namely champion filly & mare Islington (Sadler's Wells), Mountain High (Danehill) & Greek Dance (Sadler's Wells).
