Wilderness Debut Imminent

Tuesday, 11th March 2014

Tom Dabernig, stable manager for David Hayes, says that valuable colt Wilderness (Fastnet Rock-Gold Anthem, by Made of Gold) may make his debut in Saturday's $250,000 Gold Rush at Bendigo, reports racingnetwork.com.au. The Fastnet Rock colt, who was an impressive barrier trial winner at Canterbury last week, is also entered for a 1000m maiden at Hawkesbury on Thursday, the St Albans Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday, and the Gr2 Skyline Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.  "The colt is still in Sydney, but there is a good chance he'll run at Bendigo," Dabernig said. "He's a VOBIS Gold horse and the prize-money is so good - it's a strong consideration." Wilderness was purchased for $2.4 million by Coolmore and the China Horse Club at last year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. From the Made Of Gold mare Gold Anthem, Wilderness is a half-brother to dual hemisphere Gr1-winning sprinter Starspangledbanner (Choisir), winner of the Gr1 Golden Jubilee Stakes, Gr1 July Cup, Gr1 Caulfield Guineas and Gr1 Oakleigh Plate.
