Ashado Daughter Opens Career In Style

Tuesday, 11th March 2014

Regent's House (Street Cry-Ashado, by Saint Ballado), a daughter of former champion US mare Ashado, made a stunning debut on Sunday when romping home by 7-lengths in a 3YO fillies maiden (6 furlongs) at Aqueduct. The 3YO Darley filly is the second foal of Saint Ballado mare Ashado to make it to the track. Ashado brought a then world-record price of US$9 million for a mare when John Ferguson, acting on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, outbid Coolmore's John Magnier at the 2005 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Boasting a stellar lifetime record of 12 wins from 21 starts, Ashado won 7 Gr1s, including the Breeders' Cup Distaff, Beldame Stakes, Kentucky Oaks & CCA Oaks, for nearly US$4 million in prize-money. From the stakes-winning mare Goulash (Mari's Brook), Ashado is a sibling to four stakes performers, including Gr1 Hollywood Turf Cup winning sire Sun River, and Gr3 Native Diver Handicap winner Saint Stephen.
