Polanksi Leaves Hospital

Friday, 7th March 2014

Stallion prospect Polanksi has taken the next step in his recovery by leaving Melbourne University vet clinic where he was receiving treatment and returning to the property of his long-time veterinary carer, reports racingnetwork.com.au. The 3YO suffered a career-ending injury in the Gr1 Futurity Stakes when sustaining serious damage to his near foreleg. Trainer Robbie Laing said last year's VRC Derby winner was now wearing a special support bandage on his badly injured leg. "The tendon injury he suffered was very rare according to the vets - very rare, and he really damaged it badly," explained Laing. Laing said Polanksi was able to put a little bit of weight on his injured leg which was preventing his other front leg from bearing all of his weight. "That's important as we're trying to keep any sign of laminitis away and that's what causes it," he said. "It does now look like we'll be able to save him for stud duties."
