Magic Millions Juveniles Continue Great Run
Graduates of last year's Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale continued their outstanding form over the weekend with a winner and narrowly beaten stakes race runner-up. Last year's sale has already produced two stakes winners, two stakes placegetters and six individual weekend metropolitan winners. On Saturday the promising colt Husson Eagle (Husson-Tie Me Up) was an unlucky runner-up in the Listed Sports 1000 at Flemington. Purchased for $42,500 by Joe O'Neill's Prime Thoroughbreds, Husson Eagle was bred and sold in Adelaide by Patinack Farm. "He was knocked down at the start and then rallied to run the fastest last 800 metres of the day in 43.3 seconds," O'Neill said. "It was good to see him reproduce his solid barrier trial form at Flemington and he will now head to the listed St Albans Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 14." On Sunday, one of the sale's bargain buys, What's the Craic, scored an impressive debut win at Murray Bridge over 900 metres. A $5,000 purchase from Caithness Breeding for trainer Shane Oxlade, What's the Craic (Churchill Downs-Valentine Rose, by Black Minnaloushe) paid for himself with his impressive 1.5-length win. The 2013 Adelaide Yearling Sale has already produced two unrestricted juvenile stakes winners - Golconda and Moonlight Hussler. Other graduates include stakes performers Platinum Balos and Saturday metropolitan winners Deiheros, Duckworth, Kapaulenko and Nordic Empire. The 2014 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale is fast approaching, with Day One on March 10 following the running of the Adelaide Cup and Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic.
