Who Shot Thebarman Favourite For Auckland Cup

Tuesday, 4th March 2014

Progressive New Zealand stayer Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital-Ears Carol, by Carolingian) has tightened his grip on favouritism for tomorrow's NZ$500,000 Auckland Cup (3200m) at Ellerslie after drawing gate two at Saturday's barrier draw, reports theinformant.co.nz. The last-start Gr2 Avondale Cup winner is listed as a $2.40 chance with TAB.com.au for Wednesday's Gr1 feature, followed by Sydney raiders Celtic Prince and Travolta at $6.50 and $7.50 respectively. The only other horse under double-figures is More Than Sacred at $9. "He's pretty good, he's done pretty well," trainer Mark Oulaghan said after the lanky gelding completed his final serious work at Awapuni yesterday morning. "We've done nothing special with him, just the same as going into the Avondale Cup." Who Shot Thebarman, by the Sir Tristram stallion Yamanin Vital, has won 5 of his 8 career starts hitherto for earnings of NZ$130,535.
