Amber Sky Wins Hong Kong Gr1 Kent & Curwen Centenary Cup

At Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong, Darley's incumbent Champion Australian Sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) celebrated a Gr1 success when 4YO gelding Amber Sky (Exceed and Excel-Truly Wicked, by Rubiton) displayed dazzling speed when scoring by 2.25-lengths for trainer Ricky Yiu Poon-fai in the Gr1 Kent & Curwen Centenary Cup (1000m) for 3YO+, over 5YO gelding Straight Gold (Stratum-Golden Delicious, by Made of Gold) & 8YO gelding Cerise Cherry (Goldkeeper-Cherry Girl, by Pochard). This was Amber Sky's first stakes victory and took his record to 6 wins & 3 placings (including the Gr3 Bauhinia Sprint Trophy) from 13 starts for HK$4,045,000 earnings. Amber Sky was purchased by Yiu for $80,000 at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Rubiton Bloodstock.
